Soft hackles can be wrapped around the shaft of the hook.
This is called "Palmering" or "Palmer Style". As the fly is
retrieved the Palmer wrapped hackle moves and 'breathes'
sending out extra vibrations that further help attract a
predator. Also, the Palmer wrapped hackle adds extra water
resistance which helps the fly remain steady and level rather
than sink more quickly at rest.

These hackles are long and
fairly soft - just the right consistency for good action yet not too soft so as to foul
all the time. Excellent motion for all types of flies including deceivers, seducer, large half&half/flat-wing clousers and teasers just to name a few. Also makes great
material for palmer tying!
