Developed by the legendary Jack Gartside, the Gartside fly styles are a unique fly design that provides for both a variety of color combinations as well as effective basic features. Their stout body design hold the fly's shape well in the water and "moves" or "pushes" more more water than other slender patterns. Although bigger then some other styles, the Gartside fly's bullet-like shape is very aerodynamic and can be cast further than many other more bulky saltwater flies.

Gartsides have long since proven themselves highly effective flies for striped bass and bluefish. Later, they also proved effect for many other species including snook, cobia, grouper and a variety of larger inshore and offshore species.
