The gurgler flies is an
excellent surface pattern. The fly is designed to imitate the nervous
scattering of sand eels and other types of small bait along the surface. The
fly is typically fished on a floating line using long strips with a pause
between strips. As the fly is pulled through the water the front lip
catches the water causing a surface disturbance game fish everywhere find irresistible!
This pattern has proven its effectiveness for stripers, weakfish (sea
trout), bluefish, snook and redfish/drum. It can be used anytime you need a
surface fly but where a popper would be too much to fish.
